The month of March is a time for celebration, empowerment, and recognition of women around the world. As a Women Owned Business, Waldner’s is thrilled to honor this occasion by shining a spotlight on the remarkable women leaders within our industry.
Throughout March, our ‘Women’s History Month Spotlight Series’ will feature various women making transformative strides in our field. Each spotlight will offer a glimpse into the inspiring journeys of these remarkable individuals.
Our next spotlight is on Nicole Miskiewicz, Project Director Interiors of Facilities Design & Construction at St. John’s University.
1. What is the proudest moment in your career journey thus far?
“After many years in corporate interiors I switched to educational design 6 years ago working directly for St John’s University as a Project Director of Interiors. My proudest moment was when a group of young student female athletes thanked me for improving their college experience by renovating their team locker room. Interacting with the end users on a daily basis truly shows the impact that design can have on a day-to-day experience. “
2. Share a challenge you have faced in your career and how you overcame it.
“Project Management brings on many challenges in the design phases, construction and scheduling. I find the best way to tackle challenges to first handle the smaller issues and clear those of your list. From there you can focus on the bigger issues. Do not be afraid to ask consultants or others on your team for help or advice.“
3. What advice would you give to the next generation of women in the workplace?
“I would tell the next generation that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. Do not let anything or anyone hold you back. If you have a goal set your mind to it and even if there are challenges along the way have faith in yourself to make it happen. As a mother of two young girls, I often remind myself that everything I do, every challenge I overcome and everything I achieve is not just for myself but also to help all the other younger women who will come after me.”
