For International Women’s Day and beyond, let’s all fully #EmbraceEquity. International Women’s Day (IWD) provides a key moment to celebrate women’s achievements in the workplace. Being a Woman-Owned Business, Waldner’s recognized the importance of stepping up to support employee wellbeing and continuing the work required in creating an inclusive workplace.
MISSION: To forge inclusive work cultures where women’s careers thrive, and their achievements are celebrated.
Waldner’s is highlighting inspiring women in our industry for the month of March! To kick off Women’s History Month on International Women’s Day, our first highlight is on Meredith Waldner Stern, President of Waldner’s.
Who/What had a positive impact on the success & growth of your career?
I have outstanding examples from my grandfather (founder of Waldner’s) and my father. In 1939 my grandfather, Daniel Waldner, opened a small local stationary store in Mineola. Throughout my life I watched that small store grow into a successful corporation with 100 employees and three locations under my father’s (Stephen Waldner) leadership. It has been my honor to continue my family’s legacy.
What advice would you give to women in the workplace?
Connect with other business leaders; both women and men. For me, I joined WBENC (The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council) and attend their events locally and annual business conference as well as YPO which is an organization of Presidents. I’ve learned so much from hearing about the experiences of other leaders, and I consistently take many of their great ideas back to my own business.
Waldner’s will continue to celebrate women’s achievements and recognize the women leaders who are driving the progress!
